4-H University

4-H University - Short Course Contest, Clover College, & State Boards - June 20-23, 2023

4-H University is fast approaching. All 4-H’ers, who are currently in the 8th—12 grades are eligible to attend. This is your chance to compete statewide against other 4-H members for cash, educational trips and awards trips.4-H University is also an opportunity for you to explore the LSU campus, experience dormitory life, eat like a college student, visit with college faculty members, and learn more about possible
career choices. DEADLINE May 15, 2023.

For those who wish to attend 4-H U and not compete, there is always Clover College. (Once opportunities. You will attend hand-on workshops and seminars on and off LSU campus. Then you will rejoin your parish for all the assemblies and other fun activities. DEADLINE May 15, 2023.

Deadline for Fees, Health Forms and Code of Conduct is May 27.

Those who wish to run for a State Office or apply for a State Board Position need to contact the 4-H office for registration before May 1, 2023.State Board positions include: Fashion Board, SET Board, Citizenship Board, Food & Fitness and the Executive Board. Contact the 4-H office for an application or pick one up at your club meeting!!

4-H Trips, Scholarships, and Awards through Records

A Record Book consist of the Project Book or a Project Summary (in place of the book) and up to three (3) years of your 4-H portfolio. The 4-H office has its parish contest each year; then sends top records onto the State contest.Scholarships can be won on the parish or even state levels based off your records.Great award trips are also sponsored by the State office.All you have to do is keep a record of your work in 4-H. Records are Due April 6, 2023.

A brief overview of awards includes: Jr. Achievement Award ($50), 7th & 8th Grade Achievement Award (LA Ed Trip), National 4-HCongress (Atlanta, GA), and the Orlando Leadership Summit (Disney).

2023 Cooperative Business Teen Conference (9th-12th grades)

Up for a challenge? Want one more memorable 4-H experience this summer? Creative? Enjoy working with others?

You won’t want to miss the 2023 Cooperative Business Teen Conference!

Incoming 9th-12th grades are invited to attend! At the event, participants will compete in teams to establish and manage their own cooperative businesses. In the process, 4-H’ers will have opportunities to sharpen their leadership, marketing, money & management skills with guidance from industry leaders.


The conference will be held at the Wesley Center in Woodworth La. from July 31st- Aug. 2nd. It is generously sponsored by the Louisiana Council of Farmer Cooperatives.

Cost to attend is $60, use your sweet potato and strawberry sales to lower your registration fee! The guardian of 4-H member will complete the registration once the 4-H Office starts the registration process through the 4-H Online system and complete the pool & zipline waiver for the Wesley Center.

4-H LOST Camp

July 31-August 3, 2023

LOST Camp is back for 2023! Louisiana Outdoor Science & Technology Camp is for current 7th and 8th grade 4-H members. Campers will pick two tracks to participate: Food and Fitness, Meat Science, ATV Safety, Outdoor Skills, Drones, & Wetlands. In addition to participating in camp track of their choice, campers will also enjoy recreation activities. Cost to attend is $215 (lodging and meals). Campers will enjoy a 3 night stay at Camp Grant Walker in Pollock, LA from Monday July 31 until Thursday morning August 3rd.Registration for this camp is due by July 3, 2023. Online registration goes live May 1 after the 4-H office starts the process for you. Contact the 4-H Office or pickup a registration flyer at your club meeting.

4-H Senior Marsh Maneuvers Camp (9th - 12th Grade)

Don’t miss the greatest 4-H camping experience ever! Camp experiences include taking a tour of the marsh in an airboat, helping restore wetlands by planting marsh grass, crabbing, and touring the Tabasco Factory and Jungle Gardens at Avery Island, and much more! Open to 4-H’ers who have completed the ninth grade. Registration should be out shortly!


Even with the Rockefeller Wildlife Refuge’s dormitories still under construction, this is an experience
you don’t want to miss! Applicants will select from Camp Week 1 (July 3-7) or Camp Week 2 (July 10-14).
Online Applications close April 3. Don’t wait to last minute due to approval steps.

If you are planning on showing Market Steers contact the 4-H office ASAP! Registered Breeding Animals Possession Date: August 1.
