Join us on January 6th, 2022 for our annual 4-H Night with the Pelicans event! There will be a pre-game party for 4-H members and their families! Each youth who signs up will be entered in a drawing for a variety of special honors such as playing on the court before the game begins, high-five Pelicans players as they enter the court, and more! Looking for something fun to do this fall break? Enter our Photography Contest! The contest will begin December 5th and end January 5th. We wanted to give everyone a head start! Each 4-H member can submit one photo for the contest. Hobbies such as photography is a great way to improve your mental health. For that reason, this year's theme is joy! Take a picture of something that makes you happy or captures the essence of joy. Please do not submit pictures of people or submit selfies. Participants can also type a brief description of why their photo fits the theme. Entries will be judged based off skill and creativity equally. Open to 4th - 12th grade only. Also on December 3rd, we will also have our Commodity Ambassador Contest! Participants must demonstrate their ability to effectively communicate about one of Louisiana's important commodities. By participating in this contest, the individual will acquire scientific knowledge and improved understanding of the economy, versatility, and nutritional value of Louisiana agriculture commodities. The categories this year are Beef, Chicken, Turkey, Egg, Seafood, and LA Crops. Winners will be given the opportunity to participate in the Louisiana State 4-H Commodity Ambassador Contest in Alexandria, Louisiana on March 1st, 2023. For more information
Do you have a recipe that you love cooking with your family? Well we have an excellent contest for you! The Jefferson Parish Cooking Contest will be held December 3rd, 2022 and is open to youth in grades 4th – 12th. The competition will be held at Pontiff Playground. Contestants can compete in one of 7 categories: Beef, Egg, Louisiana Commodity, Poultry, Seafood, Sugar, and Wild Game. Each category is then broken down to a variety of sub-categories. 1st place in each sub-category will be invited to the Regional Culinary Arts competition in Ponchatoula, LA in May 2023 and have their recipe featured in our region’s cookbook! Last month we had our very first “virtual” pumpkin decortating contest! Thank you to all who participated. We are really proud of the hard work everyone put into designing their pumpkin! Here are the top 3 winners:

Other fundraisers you can participate in are two raffles for handmade blankets. One is LSU themed and the other is Saints themed. These 5’ x 5’ blankets are great for any football fans out there! The last day to purchase tickets are November 17th 2022. The drawing for the blankets will be on November 18th, 2022. You can buy tickets in our office in room 300 inside the Yenni Building for $1 per raffle ticket. You can buy tickets online in groups of 5.
