Veterans Day

As many of you already know, November 11th is the day we observe Veterans Day. Originally, November 11th was known as Armistice Day in recognition of the American soldiers who fought in World War I. It wasn’t until 1947 that Armistice Day was observed to honor all of the nation’s veterans. In 1954, the name had officially changed to Veterans Day. Do you or your family have any special plans to observe Veterans Day? If not, you and your family can gather donations for organizations that help veterans and/or participate in the annual 2 minutes of silence at 1:11 p.m. to honor the service and sacrifice of veteran. For more ideas or information, contact your 4-H agents Heather Egger or Dillon Howell.

Thanksgiving Vegetable Tray

Thanksgiving is just around the corner! For a dish that is both healthy and visually impressive, try arranging a vegetable tray in the shape of a turkey. Layer the vegetables in a way to mimic the colorful feathers of a turkey and use the end of a bell pepper along with peppercorn eyes to replicate the head of the turkey. Get creative with your design by trying to add as many different colored fruits/veggies as you can! For further instructions, visit the blog Eating Richly at https://bit.ly/3bpPJZ0

Fall Fundraiser

This fall, Jefferson Parish held a fundraiser selling pecans. We were able to raise over a thousand dollars. Many of our sales came from JVFC members. We wanted to personally thank the JVFC members for their support. Your generosity will greatly improve our youth development programs!
