Carol Pinnell-Alison, Price, Camryn G., Cater, Melissa W.
Melissa Cater, LSU AgCenter Northeast Region Director, is pleased to announce that Carol Pinnell-Alison, Extension Agent in Franklin parish, has assumed row crop Extension responsibilities in Richland Parish. With over 32 years of experience with the AgCenter, Cater is confident that Ms. Pinnell-Alison will be extremely successful in the position and will bring the highest caliber of knowledge and service to the producers and homeowners of Richland parish. Keith Collins retired from the position in January 2021 after 35 years of service.
Pinnell-Alison earned a Bachelor of Science in Agronomy and a Master of Plant Protection and Pest Management at the University of Georgia. She has also pursued graduate coursework in Weed Science and Entomology. She gained experience as a Research Associate while at the University of Georgia, as a Field Research and Development Representative for SDS Biotech, as well as a Field Technician for Sandoz. After completing her studies, Pinnell-Alison moved to Franklin Parish to begin her career as a Cotton Pest Management Agent in October of 1988.
Pinnell-Alison is actively involved in several professional societies and organizations. These include the National Association of County Agricultural Agents, the Louisiana Agricultural Consultants Association, the Weed Science Society of America, the Southern Weed Science Society, and the American Phytopathological Society. She has served as president of both the Louisiana County Agricultural Agents Association and the Louisiana Plant Protection Association. She has served as Vice President of the Louisiana Plant Protection Association, as well as secretary for numerous years.
