  • Coordinate regional community rural development program in parishes in northeast and central Louisiana
  • Provide educational programming in leadership development (organizational and individual), entrepreneurship (rural tourism, value-added agriculture and community decision making)
  • Create regional networks with elected officials, community leaders, parish, regional, state or multi-state agencies or associations

• Hired, supervised and evaluated Family Nutrition Program (FNP) staff; program reached 500-800 youth and adults monthly with various nutrition, food safety and money management topics. Target audiences included low-wealth families, young children, elderly and K-6 students enrolled in schools with majority students eligible for free/reduced lunch program.
• Coordinated parish-wide home economics related educational programs (parenting, nutrition, family financial management and workforce development) for adult audiences and character education program for youth
• Taught leadership, customer relations skills, and business ethics workshops in 13 parishes
• Coordinated educational programs with local agencies including the Health Unit, Council on Aging, Department of Social Services and Caldwell Parish School Board
• Instructor for educational programming for family day care providers

Position: Extension Agent, 4-H Youth Development, Caldwell Parish, June 1984-December 1992

• Coordinated co-curricular parish-wide 4-H Club program including 18 4-H Clubs at six schools involving 600 youth, ages 9-19.
• Coordinated and implemented all parish events including educational programs and workshops, contests, fund-raising events and advisory councils
• Selected and trained adult and youth volunteers to support the 4-H Club program
