What do you do at 4-H Camp, and
where do I find information?
4-H Camp is a 4-day, 3-night adventure for current 4th-6th grade 4-H members. During this overnight event, campers enjoy participating in hands-on educational tracks, recreation rotations, and free time with friends from St. Charles Parish as well as other parish 4-H members from throughout the state. Applications are posted in your school 4-H club’s Google Classroom and our LSU AgCenter website. The application includes a link to a website with more information and specifics for 4-H camp.
What do I do if I have questions about
4-H Camp or 4-H University?
Your 4-H Agent, Dr. Kali Zammit, has been to both of these events as a 4-H’er, counselor, adult volunteer, and now as a 4-H Agent. She has a lot of years of experience with both events and would be happy to answer any questions.

This year our monthly 4-H lessons will focus on two of our 4-H mission mandates: STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) and Civic Engagement (Leadership). At your club meeting or at home, try the activities below to learn more.
Lego Challenge Activity: Pull & Push / Motion
For the STEM activity each month, you will have a LEGO activity challenge that will accompany an optional story. You may use LEGOs or comparable blocks or items for each challenge. These lessons are adapted from the 4-H LEGO Engineering Club: Enchanted Builds (Vol. 3) from Mississippi State Extension. Monthly LEGO Lesson: Motion; Optional Video: Activity Example LEGO Challenge: Using approximately 100 LEGOs or less, LEGO wheels and axels, and a balloon, create a car that you think will travel the farthest using motion. Reflection: What adjustments do you think would have helped your build?
4-H Teamwork Activity: Public Speaking and Demonstrations
Cooperation is important because it allows people and groups to work
together to achieve a common goal. This month we will focus on
cooperation during the activity. The group will be given a stack of cups
and rubber bands. The group will be challenged with stacking the cups in
a pyramid form using only the rubber bands without talking. Reflection: Discuss why cooperation was important during this activity.
How can you apply this concept to your life?
Take time this month to try something new to make your best even better! Check out our upcoming 4-H activities that encourage you to use your head for clearer thinking, your heart for greater loyalty, your hands for larger service, and your health for better living! There is something for everyone in 4-H, so venture out and try something new today!
