Congratulations, 4-H’ers! Thank you for such a job well done this year as you have shown great effort by participating in all that 4-H has to offer. Now is the time to be rewarded for all your hard work in 4-H throughout the year. 4-H Camp, 4-H University, 4-H LOST Camp, and 4-H Achievement Day are just around the corner, so be sure to read and show this newsletter to your family as the opportunities in 4-H do not end with the school year – the opportunities in 4-H last all year long!
The Louisiana 4-H Leadership Board application process is now open. Applicants must be enrolled in 9th to 12th grade during the 2023-2024 school year. Applications are due by 11:30 p.m. on May 5, 2023. Late applications will not be accepted. Google Classroom or Microsoft Teams
Many school clubs will use Google Classroom to communicate with their 4-H’ers. Our parish 4-H Community Clubs and members-at-large club will use Microsoft Teams to communicate with 4-H‘ers. See your 4-H Club Leader for information on how to gain access to these communication tools.
This year 4-H Achievement Day will be held by invitation only on April 20, 2023, as an evening program. Members invited to attend 4-H Achievement Day will receive an email (using the email address on file in the 4-H Online system) with details regarding the event. 4-H Club Leaders will also receive a list of all members invited to the event. Invitations are based on participation in parish 4-H contests and events during this school year.
We are currently in the process of reviewing and approving applications for 4-H Camp (for current 4th – 6th grade 4-H members) and 4-H LOST Camp (for current 7th – 8th grade 4-H members). For those members who are selected to attend 4-H Camp or 4-H LOST Camp for St. Charles Parish, they will receive an email with additional information in the near future. If you are interested in attending 4-H Camp (July 12-15, 2023) or 4-H LOST Camp (July 31, 2023, through August 3, 2023) and have not already applied to attend, please contact the LSU AgCenter Office at 985-785-4473 for an application. As spots fill, we will process applications on a waiting list as space becomes available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
4-H University is open to current 8th – 12th grade 4-H members. 4-H University is an experience like no other, where you get the opportunity to live college life before college age – living in college dorms, competing in state contests to win trips, going to hands-on classes, hanging out with friends, and much more! If you are interested in learning more, complete the Online 4-H University Interest Form by April 5, 2023, if you haven’t already done so. Interested members will receive more information through the email address on file in the 4-H Online system. We will have a meeting for all 4-H University participants and parents on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. – 5:45 p.m. at the St. Charles Parish LSU AgCenter Office located at 453 Spruce Street in Norco, La.

Education Project
*Participants will be invited to join the St. Charles Parish
Trash Bash Celebration at the Edward A. Dufresne
Community Center for a post-event celebration, which
includes free lunch and chances to win raffle prizes.
Activities Included:
• Enjoy light refreshments prior to orientation.
• Use pickup sticks, gloves, and trash bags to
clean up around Bonnet Carré Spillway.
• Get your hands dirty by participating in
wetlands education activities while learning
about the importance of levees, native plants,
and doing your part to help our coast.
• Work with the River Region Master Gardeners
to learn about native plants and participate in a
joint LSU AgCenter program.
Registration Information:
• This event will be open to all St. Charles Parish
4-H members. Families are encouraged to join.
• All participants must pre-register for the event
by completing the LSU AgCenter Trash Bash and Wetlands Education Project Online Registration Form. (Only one entry is needed per 4-H
member. Pre-registration is required to
guarantee supplies.)
• Participants are encouraged to wear tennis
shoes and clothes that can get dirty as we will
be working outdoors. T-shirts may be made
available to wear based on availability from St.
Charles Parish Government.
• Register online by 12:00 noon on April 3, 2023 to attend.
• Registered members should check their email
prior to attending for any event reminders or
changes.
• If you need to verify service hours for another
organization, bring your paperwork to be signed
at the event.

4-H Camp
Overnight adventure for current 4th-6th grade 4-H members

This 4-day, 3-night overnight adventure is held June 12-15, 2023 at Camp Grant Walker in Pollock, La. Campers select a hands-on, educational track and participate in recreational activities including swimming, line dancing, canoeing, archery, and more. Contact the 4-H Agent with questions. See your 4-H Agent, 4-H Leader, your 4-H Google Classroom, or LSU AgCenter website for applications. Application deadline: March 24, 2023 (Still accepting applications for waiting list.)

Overnight adventure for current 7th – 8th grade 4-H members
