How do I join St. Charles Parish 4-H?

Welcome to a new 4-H club year!

The 4-H Youth Development program is open to students in Kindergarten through 12th grade. Those members in K-3rd grade are considered 4-H Cloverbuds—who participate in age-appropriate, noncompetitive 4-H youth development programs. Those members in 4th-12th grade are considered 4-H members, who participate in age-appropriate programs and competitions.

How do you become a member of the St. Charles Parish 4-H program? First, contact your school to see if there is a 4-H club at your school. If so, contact the 4-H Club Leader for more information on joining. If there is not a 4-H club at your school, contact your 4-H Agent. The 4-H Agent for St. Charles Parish is Mrs. Kali Zammit, who can be contacted at 985-785-4473 or kzammit@agcenter.lsu.edu.

Whether you are a member of a school 4-H club or not, all St. Charles Parish students have the opportunity to join one or more 4-H Community (Project) Clubs. There are currently 5 Project Clubs in St. Charles Parish for the 2018-2019 school year: (See the “Project Club” section of our website to learn more about each club.)

  • 4-H CHEF (Cooking, Healthy Eating, & Fitness) Club – (for 4th-8th grade) Members meet at least once a month to learn how to cook and eat healthy snacks and meals as well as how to incorporate fitness in their daily lives in a fun and interactive way.
  • 4-H Cloverbud Club – (for K-3rd grade) Members meet once a month to participate in noncompetitive, age-appropriate hands-on activities designed to help children learn about life. Cloverbuds discover things about nature, animals, art, the environment, food, fitness, and health, just to name a few.
  • 4-H Fashion Club – (for 4th-12th grade) Members learn about sewing and fashion by attending monthly workshops and participating in service-learning projects.
  • 4-H Jr. Leader Club – (for 7th-12th grade) Members plan and participate in fun monthly club meetings, service projects, parish events, and trips while meeting new people and developing leadership skills.
  • 4-H Shooting Sports Club – (for ages 10-19) Members learn about firearm safety, marksmanship, and citizenship skills while meeting new friends and participating in practices, trainings, and competitions.
