4-H Club Meeting Lesson:

Public Speaking and Demonstration

Not a fan of public speaking, no matter the audience? Chances are you have already faced a public speaking situation – a speech at school, a 4-H club demonstration, a job or project interview, or even just sharing your opinion in front of a group of your friends. Did the experience send you running scared, or did you face the experience head-on? The truth is you will continue experiencing public speaking situations throughout your life. Therefore, it is important to remember these things:

  • Communication is an essential skill for success in any field;
  • Communication includes speaking and listening;
  • Practice makes perfect!
  • Members will get a “toolbox list” at club meetings that will help them become more comfortable when speaking in a group. They will also get to practice their speaking skills in small groups.

    4-H Online Enrollment

    4-H enrollment has changed this year to 4-H Online. It’s easy to enroll online by creating your own family profile and adding family members as 4-Hers or volunteers. Click the button How to Enroll in 4-H Online for Cameron Parish for step-by-step instructions on how to enroll.

    All 4-Hers belonging to their school club must pay their school $10 club dues to join.All of our camp and event registration will take place in this system. If you’re having trouble accessing the website or completing an enrollment, we have a desktop computer in our office available.

    Junior Leader Club

    Junior Leaders will have their next meeting on Sunday December 11 at 2 PM at Grand Lake Community Church- 954 Highway 384 in Grand Lake.

    Bring a wrapped gift worth $25 to play white elephant. A meal will be served, and we will play Christmas themed games!

    Junior Leaders will receive boxes of World's Finest Chocolate Candy to sell for their next fundraiser. Junior Leaders who did not meet minimum selling requirements for Charleston Wrap fundraiser will get an opportunity to sell extra boxes and remain eligible to attend year end trip to Branson.

    Fur Festival Fundraiser will also be discussed. Parents are asked to work at least one one-hour shift at the gate between 9 AM and 2 PM.

    Cameron 4-H Shooting Sports

    Before every practice there will be a safety presentation that you have to attend to be able to shoot at practice. If you get to practice late and miss the presentation, you will not be allowed to shoot.
