Received the 1986 Outstanding Alumnus Award from the LSU School of Human Ecology; and was selected as the Louisiana Dietetic Association’s Outstanding Dietitian and the American Dietetic Association’s Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year. 

Served as president of the LSU Chapter of Gamma Sigma Delta International Honor Society of Agriculture, the LSU College of Agriculture Alumni Association, and the Louisiana Dietetic Association and as Chairman of the Louisiana State Board of Examiners in Dietetics and Nutrition.

Completed an American Dietetic Association dietetic internship at the Houston Veteran's Administration Hospital. Registered Dietitian, Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist, and instructor for the National Restaurant Association ServeSafe® Food Protection Manager Certification Course.  Employed as a public health nutritionist with the Office of Public Health prior to employment with the LSU AgCenter.
