4-H Rabbit Project: Quick Reference Guide

Types of Rabbit Projects

Estimated Timeline: 10 weeks to one year (longer for any production-based breeding project).

Estimated Cost: $100 to $1000-plus.

Estimated Space Requirement: .75 square foot per pound of body weight.

Estimated Production Outcome: $12-18 retail value/rabbit.

Estimated Youth Outcome: Goal setting, recording keeping, critical thinking, decision making, communication, responsibility, marketable skills, self-discipline, leadership.

  • Short-term project (10 weeks).
  • Shown in pens of three (3-5 lbs.).
  • Rabbits must be same breed.
  • Will require health papers.
