Work Location: Red River Research Station, Bossier City, Louisiana
Position Description: The successful candidate for this position will provide technical support on research projects on water quality, measuring greenhouse gas emissions, nutrient runoff, and nutrient leaching from crop fields. Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to the establishment, maintenance, operating farm equipment, and sampling (soil, water, and plant) of field plots and the completion of laboratory experiments. The position also will be responsible for supervising student and transient employees. The position also requires some weekend travel and overnight stays to visit experimental sites. Other duties may be assigned as necessary to complete research projects.
Qualification Requirements: The minimum qualifications include a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture, chemistry, environmental science, soil fertility, or a closely related field. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, fundamental statistical analysis, GIS, excellent communication skills, ability and willingness to learn new things, ability to work as part of a team, ability to work independently without supervision, and ability to work outside in non-ideal environments are highly desired. Applicants with previous experience with field crop research, water quality monitoring, and laboratory analysis skills are preferred.
