Work Location: LSU AgCenter, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Position Description: Under the direction of the Associate Vice President for Strategic Initiatives and reporting directly to the Director for Sponsored Programs, the Assistant Director for Sponsored Programs is responsible for day-to-day management and oversight of several key administrative processes. The Assistant Director engages in planning discussions, collaborates in the development of proposal and award policies and procedures, and provides leadership in training both the university faculty and the administrative staff in issues related to research and extension sponsored programs, and provides management of electronic research administration tools.
Qualification Requirements: Bachelor’s degree and not less than twelve (12) years of experience in research administration at a land grant institution; Certificate of Research Administration (CRA); Experience in managing federal compliance requirements for sponsored agreements and ability to interpret and apply University and sponsor policies and procedures; Effective written and verbal communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills; Thorough knowledge of information systems supporting research administration; Ability to analyze complex situations, identify workable solutions, and make appropriate determinations based on regulations and relevant policies.
Desired Qualifications: Experience with managing a team of research administrators, policy implementation and risk monitoring; Experience in planning, developing, implementing and conducting training workshops and programs; Experience with managing student workers.
