What We Are Looking For

In our search for the ideal candidate, the LSU AgCenter, Louisiana 4-H, and Louisiana FFA are seeking a dynamic Extension Associate who embodies a deep commitment to the land-grant mission. This role entails providing invaluable technical assistance to both the 4-H and FFA programs, primarily focusing on two key systems: 4HOnline (the 4-H Enrollment and Management System) and Fair Entry (a web-based entry and management system for Parish, District, and State Livestock/Horse Shows). Beyond these critical responsibilities, the successful candidate will also play a pivotal role in steering social media marketing efforts, engaging in graphic design, spearheading video production, and offering essential audio-visual support for statewide 4-H and FFA events.

Key Responsibilities:

System Management:

  • Oversee the administration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Louisiana 4HOnline and Fair Entry web-based systems.
  • Ensure data accuracy, troubleshoot technical issues, and implement updates as needed.
  • Serve as the state contact for the 4HOnline and Fair Entry web-based entry and management systems.
  • Develop fact and help sheets for agents and 4-H families on 4HOnline.
  • Develop fact and help sheets for agents, ag science teachers, 4-H families, and FFA families on Fair Entry.
  • Conduct in-person and online training on 4HOnline and Fair Entry when deemed necessary.
  • Prepare 4HOnline management system for end of year close out and rollover for the new 4-H year.

Customer Service:

  • Provide exceptional customer service to users of both systems, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions to educate stakeholders on system functionalities.

Multimedia Services:

  • Design eye-catching graphics and visuals for promotional materials, websites, and social media platforms.
  • Manage and create engaging content for social media accounts.
  • Handle video recording, editing, and production for program-related content.
  • Provide audio-visual leadership at statewide 4-H and FFA events, ensuring seamless presentations.

On-Site Assistance:

  • Serve as on-site support during various livestock shows and statewide 4-H and FFA events, offering technical assistance and ensuring smooth operations.

Louisiana FFA (Future Farmers of America) is a premier youth organization dedicated to preparing students for leadership and careers in the agricultural industry. Affiliated with the Louisiana Department of Education, Louisiana FFA offers a comprehensive curriculum that encompasses agriculture, agribusiness, and leadership development. Students involved in Louisiana FFA gain practical skills, leadership experience, and a deep appreciation for agriculture's role in our society.

Qualifications Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, multimedia design, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Strong technical skills and familiarity with web-based systems.
  • Proven graphic design skills with proficiency in design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Demonstrated video recording and editing capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong customer service orientation.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel and provide on-site support as needed.
  • Knowledge of the 4-H and FFA programs or agricultural/livestock events is a plus.
  • Applicants will need to provide a portfolio of their work in the area of graphic design and video production.

Salary and Benefits: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The LSU AgCenter has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options. Benefits offered include retirement, multiple medical insurance options, supplemental insurances (dental, life, long-term disability, accident, vision, long-term care, etc.), Tax Saver Flexible Benefits Plan (saves tax dollars on some child care and medical expenses), university holidays (14 per year, typically includes a week off at Christmas), generous annual (vacation) and sick leave benefits, Employee Assistance Program, and possible educational leave and tuition exemption for coursework at campuses of the LSU System.
