Extension Associate - East Baton Rouge Parish - R00085145

This is a state funded, non-tenure track position. Continuation of employment will be dependent on funding availability, job performance, and continued need for the appointment.

Work Location: This position will be housed at the Louisiana State University AgCenter – LaHouse Resource Center in Baton Rouge, LA. The successful candidate will be domiciled in an LSU AgCenter parish or region office within proximity of the candidate's residence.

Position Description: The successful candidate will support the housing extension programming at the state level under the direction of the LaHouse director. The associate will be responsible for extension project and impact reporting, contribute to extension grant proposals, assist the develop and deliver extension programs, and promote programs and resources offered at LaHouse. The extension associate will also manage the housing programs listserv/database and website and will facilitate communication and networking and maintain communication with parish agents, other universities, organizations, non-profits, and other groups.

In addition, the extension associate will contribute to the program web page and newsletter on recent or upcoming events and research; they will assist in the development of in person and online classes offered by the AgCenter related to housing. The extension associate will perform other tasks assigned by the director.

The goal of the housing program is to increase people’s awareness and adoption of sustainable, resilient, and healthy housing techniques and benefits. This includes providing group tours of LaHouse and attending community events on behalf of the housing program.

Qualification Requirements: Minimum of a bachelor's degree is required. Preference will be given to candidates with undergraduate or advanced degrees in Agricultural and Extension Education and Evaluation or demonstrated experience in an extension role. Knowledge and skills in organization, time management, and data management are essential. The successful candidate must have good written and oral communication skills. Preference will be given to candidates with experience or knowledge of resilient, sustainable, and/or healthy home principles, as well as experience or education in course development and delivery.

Salary and Benefits: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The LSU AgCenter has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options.
