Work Location: LSU AgCenter Food Incubator, Baton Rouge, LA
Position Description: This position is responsible for assisting with the operation of the LSU AgCenter Food Innovation Institute (FOODii) Plant Operations and support of technical service offered by FOODii.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following: assist the Plant Operations Manager with usage of incubator and pilot plant facilities by tenants and AgCenter faculty; maintaining sanitary conditions within the physical plant; assist tenants and staff with safe use of equipment and guidance and assistance in processing techniques; assist with coordination of access and scheduling of tenants in various facilities; develop and maintain key performance metrics to report monthly; assist Head Research Associate with implementation of research and processing protocols for experiments, product development, processing studies and teaching exercises. Complete tasks independently and maintain proper laboratory and business-type records.
Other duties include: Contributing to a multi-disciplinary, team atmosphere focused on the success of LSU AgCenter faculty and FOODii tenants and staff.
Qualification Requirements: BS or MS degree in Food Sciences or related field. One to three years experience in food processing and or food research. Willingness to obtain HACCP Certification, Better Processing or other Food Safety Certification/Training. Knowledge of food science research and testing protocols, awareness of food processing, preservation and packaging.
