Postdoctoral Researcher - East Baton Rouge Parish - R00066028

This is a grant-funded, non-tenure track position for one year. Continuation will be dependent on funding, job performance, and continued need for the appointment.

Work Location: School of Renewable Natural Resources, LSU Agricultural Center, Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Nature of Work: A multi-investigator team is seeking a Post-doctoral Research Associate to participate in a collaborative project focused on developing methods and assessing cumulative effects of large-scale coastal ecosystem restoration. Applicants should hold a graduate degree (PhD) in biology, oceanography or related field. The ideal candidate will be experienced in working with state and federal agency work groups, manipulating and working with large datasets, exploring historical and spatial data, analyzing data using advanced statistics. The successful candidate will be expected to assist, design, and implement experiments assessing ecosystem function and resilience across Gulf of Mexico estuaries, in support of the cumulative effects assessment. The position involves supporting and working with faculty, graduate students, and is highly collaborative with state, federal and non-governmental organization co-PIs. Travel to field sites, including overnight stays, and occasional weekend work will be required.

Qualification Requirements: Applicant must hold a PhD degree in biological sciences, natural resources management, marine science, or a related field. Applicant must possess experience in some, or preferably all, of the following (1) experience working with large data sets and data analysis, (2) experience working with spreadsheets, statistical software, GIS, (3) peer-review publication, and science communication, (4) experience working in the field, driving boats and collecting field and laboratory data, and the ability to work independently, create work plans, and meet deadlines.

Salary and Benefits: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
