Assistant/Associate Professor (Plant Pathology/Virology) - East Baton Rouge Parish - R00070827

Work Location: Department of Plant Pathology & Crop Physiology, LSU Baton Rouge Campus, Louisiana

Position Description: This is a full-time 12-month, tenure-track position with 90% research and 10% teaching appointment focused on viruses causing plant diseases important to Louisiana as well as nationally and internationally. The successful candidate is expected to develop a strong and innovative research program in plant virology, focused on plant diseases caused by viruses and viroids but may include interactions of viruses with other plant pathogens or vectors at the molecular or ecological level. The successful candidate will possess the requisite technical skills to build an innovative program at the forefront of plant virology research and train the next generation of plant virologists. The appointee is expected to teach a graduate course in plant virology and contribute to other courses when appropriate. The successful candidate will also be expected to serve as a major advisor and on advisory committees for Ph.D. and M.S. students. Obtaining extramural funding from federal and state agencies, commodity (state and national) research boards, and agro-industries to support the research program will be expected.

Qualification Requirements: A Ph.D. in plant virology/plant pathology. Postdoctoral experience in plant virology highly desirable.
