2005 Selected State Community Nutrition Representative by National Dairy Council. The Southeast Dairy Association sponsored two health professionals from Louisiana to attend the meeting. I was sponsored as one of the health professionals. National Dairy Council and General Mills Bell Institute of Health and Nutrition 2005 Healthy Weight Forum: The Healthy Weight Wake Up Call. Description: Three phase intervention (control, limited, and full) endorsed by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) with collaborations between Greater New Orleans Second Harvest Food Bank, LSU AgCenter, New Orleans Catholic Charities, Head Start Program, and Tulane School of Public Health: Project provides fresh fruits and vegetables to Head Start Center food service and take home bag for parents at 14 Head Start Centers along with student, staff, and caregivers’ nutrition education, taste testing, recipes, take home nutrition education literacy books, and a behavior change research component.

Description: Smart Bodies research, outreach, and mobile exhibit promoting youth nutrition, physical activity and the human body. 50 Louisiana low-income schools were funded with FNP funds the first year of implementing the Smart Bodies program. A pilot study was conducted in 20 Baton Rouge Schools researching Body Mass Index (BMI), Physical Activity levels and fruit and vegetable intake in students
