Responsibilities: The individual will be expected to perform a variety of duties as a research associate/ Farm Manager at the Macon Ridge Research Station. Duties include oversight of all field activities related to preparing, planting, and harvesting agricultural crops. This position will serve as the direct supervisor for all civil service farm support staff at the Macon Ridge Research Station. This position working with and through the station research coordinator will coordinate daily activities related to allocation of labor and equipment for all field crop related activities as well as other research projects on-station. This position will have responsibilities for facilitating station operations related to row crop production as well as maintenance of station facilities. The position will assist with all research programs on-station as it relates to allocation of labor and equipment. Other duties include pesticide application, record keeping and station grounds and improvement.
Qualification Requirements: Research Associate. A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a field of agriculture is required. A master’s degree is desired. Also prefer additional training in basic plant sciences such as botany, horticulture, and agronomy. Prior supervisory experience is preferred. Prior experience working with agronomic crops is preferred.
