Work Location: This position will be domiciled in Julian C Miller Hall on the campus of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Position Description: The LSU Agricultural Center and College of Agriculture at Louisiana State University seeks applicants for a 12-month, tenure-track position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. This position is described as 49% teaching and advising, 15% research, and 36% Service/Extension. The individual filling this position is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and to develop a strong research program of national scope focused on Extension Education. This position will teach in-person as well as distance education courses focused on agricultural, Extension, and adult education; advise students at the undergraduate and graduate levels (M.S. & Ph.D.); teach condition of employment graduate courses for LSU AgCenter Extension Agents; provide leadership for the Agricultural Leadership and Development Concentration in Agricultural Education (B.S.); participate in Extension outreach activities; participate in recruitment of undergraduate students in agricultural and Extension education; serve on departmental, college, and university committees; develop a focused area for scholarship in and seek extramural funding and other opportunities related to agricultural and Extension education.
Qualification Requirements: Applicant must possess a Ph.D. in Extension Education, Adult Education, or closely related discipline with at least three years of experience in Extension (experience with 4-H youth programs preferred). Outstanding oral and written communication skills along with excellent teaching skills are required. Candidates should possess a strong publication record in relevant research areas and the ability to secure extramural funds to support their research program.
