Dr. Vadel Shivers received her PhD from the Agricultural and Extension Education and Evaluation department in May 2024 from LSU. She has a master’s degree in Nutrition Education from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science and a bachelor’s degree in Food and Nutrition/Dietetics from Southern University and A&M College. For over 24 years, she practiced as a registered dietitian and has over 21 years of experience in oncology nutrition. Since 2004, she has served as preceptor for interns participating in dietetic internship programs at Southern University, Fran U, North Oaks, University of Mississippi, and University of Alabama (Birmingham). She volunteers with local non-profit organizations TANKPROOF (provides equitable access to aquatics and addresses food insecurity) and Face to Face Enrichment Center (provides educational, outreach, and mentoring services to disadvantaged populations).
