Nutrition and food sciences make significant contributions to the overall food industry through research on food product development, processing and safety as well as research and outreach on the beneficial nutritional impacts of healthy dietary practices. Research activities include both basic and applied research in areas of food product development and food processing to enhance consumer food product quality, food safety and nutritional benefits.
(10/27/23) The LSU AgCenter is partnering with several universities and countries on a $22 million award from the U.S. Agency for International Development.
(07/25/23) The LSU AgCenter is receiving $4.02 million from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for the five-year High Obesity Program (HOP).
(07/18/22) The LSU AgCenter Food Innovation Institute has received a five-year, $1.5 million federal grant.
Food for the Future means having a safe, secure, sustainable food supply while exploring alternative foods and food production.
