Overview.


The Louisiana Institute for Bioproducts and Bioprocessing (LIBBi) is a Louisiana Board of Regents (BOR) approved research, education and outreach initiative housed administratively within the LSU Agricultural Center (AgCenter). LIBBi scientists represent AgCenter departments and schools including Renewable Natural Resources, the Audubon Sugar Institute, Biological and Agricultural Engineering, Nutrition and Food Science, Plant, Environmental & Soil Sciences, Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness, and the Sugar Research Station. Through innovative discovery and strategic industry partnerships, LIBBi develops novel biofuels and bioproducts from Louisiana’s cellulosic-based agricultural crop and forest sectors. LIBBi links this diverse base of production agriculture with emerging markets for sustainable low carbon fuels and bioproducts.
