Located in the Red River Valley near Shreveport, the Red River Research Station serves northwest Louisiana. The primary crops grown in that part of the state are cotton, soybeans and corn. Current projects related to these crops include variety evaluation, insect pest management and soybean breeding. The horticultural program focuses on the production of greenhouse tomatoes and southern pea breeding. Some beef cattle research, forage evaluation and water quality research also are conducted at the station.
