Model farm field tour held in Tensas Parish

(09/26/19) NEWELLTON, La. — Good stewardship of the land was the focus of a fall farm tour held at Somerset Plantation in Tensas Parish on Sept 24.

The farm, which is owned and operated by Jay Hardwick and his family, is one of two model farms that are part of a $1.4 million grant to the LSU AgCenter from the Patrick F. Taylor Foundation to study ways to decrease the amount of chemicals such as fertilizer used in agriculture. The other location is the Keith Dugas farm in Assumption Parish.

LSU AgCenter receives $1.4 million from Patrick F. Taylor Foundation for nutrient runoff research

(06/13/19) BATON ROUGE, La. — The Patrick F. Taylor Foundation has awarded a $1.4 million grant to the LSU AgCenter to fund a four-year research project on reducing nutrient runoff from crop fields.

Row rice production gains interest

(07/15/19) ST. JOSEPH, La. — More than 50 agricultural producers and industry representatives interested in furrow-irrigated rice, also called row rice or upland rice, attended the LSU AgCenter Northeast Research Station row rice and soybean field tour on July 9 in St. Joseph.
