The Dean Lee Research and Extension Center demonstration gardens were designed and installed in late winter 2019. From late winter into early spring, the Central Region horticulture team members collaborated with Cenla Master Gardener volunteers and research station personnel to install the native plant and pollinator habitat on the north side of the main office building. The second phase of the landscape demonstration gardens at Dean Lee focused on installing Louisiana Super Plants (LSP) a couple of months later. In August 2021, the LSP beds were removed prior to the implementation of a major drainage project in the area. The beds were reworked and planted with new plants in November 2021. New annual plantings are installed each spring and fall in the LSP bed to highlight seasonal color options for clientele.
