Sewing is a service and art that has been lost to most of our modern-day society. The 4-H Youth Development Program strives to teach youth skills in belonging, independence, generosity, and mastery. This is accomplished through three focus areas called mission mandates: Citizenship; Healthy Living; and Science, Engineering, and Technology. Through the sewing project, youth are exposed to all these mandates as sewing is naturally a part of healthy living, it encompass set, and they also learn citizenship skills through the Service Projects that they do.
We have 3 Sewing Groups: The Beginner Sewing Group, The Intermediate Sewing Group, and The Advanced Sewing Group.
Check out what our Sewing Club did to help with COVID-19! Our 4-H'ers have been featured in News Articles, as well as, News Videos.

Our Intermediate Group have 1 to 3 years of prior sewing experience. They also made craft projects the first half of the year that were chosen to enhance their sewing skills. Beginning in January they began constructing their contest garment.

In addition to practicing to perfect their basic sewing skills, we learned to:
These girls were encouraged to design their own garment based on the various views on a single pattern. All the garments do not look alike in this group. This group did a few craft projects for fun before beginning their contest/4-H U garments. Each girl picked their project based on 4-H U contests and one chose something for fun. They made some amazing outfits!
