Union Parish is located in the Piney Hills area of north Louisiana. Union Parish was created in March 1839 by the Louisiana Legislature and is home to Lake D’arbonne State Park and the Upper Ouachita National Wildlife Refuge. Every year the parish hosts the Watermelon and Mayhaw festivals. Union Parish has local farmers in the areas of poultry, cattle and forestry.
