The fisheries program promotes the use of recommended business management practices among commercial fishermen, seafood dealers and processors, and advises commercial and recreational fishermen regarding fisheries regulations, equipment and technological ideas in marketing, quality control, environmental stewardship and sea safety.

Louisiana SeaGrant is part of SeaGrant, a national network of 29 university-based programs committed to addressing a broad range of marine and coastal issues through research, advisory services and education. 

SeaGrant is a partnership between the nation's universities and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). SeaGrant encourages the wise stewardship of our marine resources through research, education, outreach and technology transfer.
