Interacting in the Classroom with Body Quest IPad's..

The goal of this 21-week program is to prevent childhood obesity in elementary youth. Specific objectives are to increase fruit and vegetable consumption, increase physical activity, improve sleep hygiene (as it relates to dietary and activity issues) and enhance family involvement. All Body Quest materials have been developed by the SNAP-ED program at Auburn University and adapted for use in Louisiana for this multi-state effort.
Body Quest features the use of Anime-style characters in seven iPad apps in addition to print materials and developmentally appropriate activities. A mobile iPad laboratory is transported to targeted 3rd grade classrooms. Secondly, Body Quest contains a rigorous evaluation of impact intervention. Most of the data is collected via clickers and transported electronically to the data management site at the LSU AgCenter for analysis and then merged with data from Auburn University to get a picture of changes throughout programs in other southern states.
