The Operation Cook Project Club had another exciting year full of new recipes and fitness activities. On August 8, 2012, this group of "chefs" attended the last class of the project club year and received a certificate of completion and medal along with a personalized embroidered apron and chef's hat as part of their graduation.

Louisiana 4-H was one of the fifteen states selected to receive Phase 2 of the Walmart Foundation grant. The grant, entitled Fit 4 the Future: Youth Choice Youth Voice, provided resources and opportunities for youth and their families to develop and maintain healthy lifestyles, which ultimately results in youth voices advocating for a fit future.

The state received $55,000 for this grant and has offered it to parishes in mini-grants. St. Mary Parish 4-H received a small amount of this grant in the form of a mini-grant to be utilized in furnishing kitchen supplies and exercise tools to be used during the classes.

If you are interested in signing up for the 2012-2013 Operation Cook Project Club, do not forget to attend your school's 4-H club meeting to receive a registration form (located in your September 4-H Newsletter) or contact the St. Mary Parish 4-H office to sign up.

Congratulations to our new chefs! Lexi F., Sarah L., Kiley H., Olivia T., Lexi P., Princess T., Emily R., Carlee S., and Chloe M.
