"This is so much fun. Let me see what I need."

"Hey guys, I need this one!"

On Wednesday, November 6, 2013, the Garyville Library hosted a Couponing, Budgeting and Shopping Workshop. The workshop was made available by Cynthia Clifton with the LSU AgCenter. The participants were given handouts on extreme couponing tips and comparing prices and of course coupons to trade. Some of the workshop tips included:

  • Two main sources of coupons: newspaper inserts and websites with printable coupons. The Sunday paper has the best coupon inserts.
  • Get organized - determine a system that is right for you.
  • Know store policy on coupons (double coupon day, competitor coupon day, internet coupons and restrictions on coupon shopping).
  • Keep store and manufacturer coupons together. Stores have coupons in weekly ads that can be combined with manufacturer coupons to save even more.

Participants also found out that these websites are good sources for coupons and free samples:

www.healtyessentials.com
www.wwpbelieve.org
www.smartsource.com
www.weheartfreebies.com
www.grocerycouponcart.com

Everyone enjoyed the workshop and learned a lot of good tips.
