The LSU AgCenter hosted the Smart Bodies Body Walk at Ascension of Our Lord (AOL) School on Friday, March 20, 2015. Students K-5th grade walked through the Body Walk learning about the body and how it functions. The Tulane Dietetic Interns (20) worked in the 11 stations and explained to the students the functions of the body and how the body works when it is not nourished properly. The students started at the cafeteria station and became a fruit that they would be through the whole process. After leaving the cafeteria station the students traveled to the brain, mouth, stomach, intestines, heart, lungs, kidneys, bones, skin and pathway to life.

The students at AOL really enjoyed the experience of walking through the Body Walk and learning how and what they ate affected their body functions. The teachers enjoyed watching the students and going through the Body Walk also learning more about their bodies and its function. A total of 300 students and 12 teachers participated in the Smart Bodies Body Walk at AOL.

The students were given coloring books and stickers after completing the Body Walk to take back to their classes and discuss their experience.
