4-H Food and Fitness Camp is a hands on camp that allows you to learn more about food preparation, cooking, eating healthy and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. 4-H Food and Fitness Camp is being held March 26th-27th at 4-H Camp Grant Walker in Pollock, Louisiana. We can only send 4 delegates and 2 volunteers, so hurry and get your form in today!! The cost to attend 4-H Food and Fitness Camp is $40 and the deadline to register is March 1st. Please complete the attached form and return it to the 4-H office with payment.
Are you ready to improve your leadership skills? Do you prefer to lead and not follow? If so, then 4-H Co-Op Camp is the place for you! 4-H Co-Op Camp is scheduled for March 26th-27th at 4-H Camp Grant Walker in Pollock, Louisiana. We can send 4 delegates. The cost to register is $30 and the deadline to register is March 15th. Get your registration in early so that you are guaranteed a place. Please complete the attached form and return it to the 4-H office with payment.
Believe it or not, it’s time to start registering for 4-H summer camp! Let the countdown begin, because we leave for 4-H Camp Grant Walker in Pollock, Louisiana, on May 30 and return on June 3. Prepare yourself for a fun-filled week, full of memories that will last a lifetime! Students in grades 4-6 and 12 years old or younger may attend. The cost to attend 4-H camp is $150 per camper. Students who participate in free or reduced school lunch programs may qualify for funding assistance to attend 4-H summer camp. If you are interested in attending 4-H summer camp, please complete the attached form and return it to the 4-H office with a $75 deposit. Once your form and deposit is received in the 4-H office, a packet will be mailed to you with more detailed information. The deadline to register is April 15, 2011.
Back by popular demand is the 4-H Sewing Contest. If you are interested in fashion or even being a designer, this is for you. Construct a garment of your choice, with your choice of fabric. You must submit your garmet to the 4-H office or to your 4-H leader no later than March 30. This is your chance to shine and show off your talents!
Due to a lack of participant registrations, this event has been postponed. To help increase participation numbers and boost awareness of 4-H in our parish, 4-H has partnered with the LaPlace Rotary Club for their annual Pups in the Park event. 4-H will preside over the pet show at this event. The date for Pups in the Park is March 26. Please mark your calendars.
The 4-H State S.E.T. Board is sponsoring a statewide photo contest. All 4-H’ers can participate. Just follow the instructions below:
1. Create a Flickr account and join the Louisiana 4-H Flickr group.
2. Take your picture and submit it by the last day of the month.
3. Vote for your favorite between the first and fifth of the month for the winner. Get family and friends to vote too!
This year’s 4-H Achievement Day is scheduled for May 10. Start working on your song and yell now, and get ready to see an exciting show! Don’t forget about the t-shirt contest, scrapbook contest, and of course, finish up your record books. Record books will be collected on April 20. More information on Achievement Day will be in next month’s newsletter.
San Francisco Plantation’s annual Frisco Fest is scheduled for March 12 and 13. Kim is seeking volunteers to help in whatever way possible for this annual event. For more information please contact Aimee' Perretat at the 4-H office or via e-mail.
St. John Parish 4-H recently held their 2010 4-H Livestock Show at St. Peter’s School in Reserve. The 4-H Livestock Show was a huge success with over 100 people in attendance. Thank you to all who helped organize the event and to those who attended, and to the parents and children that participated in the 4-H Livestock Program.
The District 4-H Livestock Show was recently held on the grounds of the Covington Fairgrounds. The 4-H livestock exhibitors from St. John Parish did exceptionally well and will proceed to the State 4-H Livestock Show, February 12-19, at Lamar Dixon.
