Attention 4-H'ers

It is time to start thinking about the LSU AgCenter Junior Broiler Show. The broiler project is a six-week growing project. 4-H’ers will raise, feed, clean and show their live chickens. Judging will be on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012.

If you are interested in competing, you must inform the St. John Parish 4-H Office by Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011. We are looking forward to your participation!

School Garden Project

If your school is interested in participating in the school garden project, please contact the St. John Parish 4-H Office. We look forward to seeing what you can grow!

4-H Day with the Tigers

The Annual 4-H Day with the Tigers Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, in Tiger Stadium. The LSU Tigers will be playing Western Kentucky. Tailgating will be in Parker Coliseum starting at 10 a.m. The LSU Golden Girls will perform at 10:30 a.m. Cheerleaders, mascot, and Tiger Girls will perform at 2:45 p.m.

Attention Livestock Competitors!

The deadline for possession of any livestock animal to be exhibited is Friday, Nov. 4, 2011.  All livestock animals that will be exhibited in any upcoming shows must be tagged by Nov. 7, 2011. Proper health papers for animals will be needed to get through the veterinarian check.

The 2012 Southeast District Livestock Show will be held on Jan. 31 - Feb. 3, 2012 at the Covington Fairgrounds located in Covington, Louisiana. Those who want to rent camper spaces should contact Pat at 225-686-3020. Camper rental will be on a first come, first served basis.

The 2012 State Livestock show will be held on Feb. 12 - Feb. 18, 2012, at the Lamar Dixon Expo Center located in Gonzales, Louisiana. All potential competitors please pay close attention to approaching deadlines!

4-H Challenge Camp

Each year the different regions in Louisiana 4-H put on a Challenge Camp designed just for 7th and 8th grade 4-H members. This year Challenge Camp will be held at Tickfaw State Park. Challenge Camp provides a unique camping experience that leads youth through team-building activities and exhilarating games, allowing them to make memories that will last a lifetime!

Activities: Outdoor Challenge Activities, Personal Development Sessions, Self-Concept Workshops, Goal-Setting Sessions and more.
