WEST MONROE, La. – Results from the 43rd annual Louisiana 4-H and FFA State Horse Show held July 10-14 have been released. Coordinated by the LSU AgCenter, the event was held at the Ike Hamilton Expo Center. “The horse program takes a lot of training and a lot of work,” LSU AgCenter Associate Vice Chancellor Dwight Landreneau told the participants. “We teach you leadership, citizenship and sportsmanship. I hope you will take what you learn here to better your community.” John Barnett, LSU AgCenter Northeast Region director, congratulated everyone, not just youth with ribbons. “Everyone is a winner who comes to these events,” he said.

St. Charles Parish 4-H State horse Show results are as follows:

Western Pleasure, 13 and Under: fourth, Bailey Melancon
Western Showmanship, 13 and Under: ninth, Bailey Melancon
Reining, 13 and Under: second, Bailey Melancon
Western Pleasure, 14 and Over: fourth, Raven Winters
Western Horsemanship, 14 and Over: second, Raven Winters
Stock Horse Pleasure, 14 and Over: third, Terry LeCompte

Bailey Melancon and Raven Winters qualified and attended the 4-H Regional Horse Show in Perry, Georgia. Congratulations to all 4-H Horse exhibitors for a job well done!

St. Charles Parish 4-H is for anyone in public schools, private schools, or home schools in fourth through twelfth grade. If you are interested in learning new things and having fun at the same time, attend the 4-H enrollment meeting at your school. If your school does not have a 4-H club, you can contact 4-H Agent Kali Zammit at the St. Charles Parish 4-H office at 985-785-4473 or via e-mail at Kali Zammit to become a member.
