The St. Bernard Parish 4-H Cookery Contest will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the cafeteria of Davies Elementary School, 4101 Mistrot, Meraux, La. The 2015 cookery event will feature competition in:
- Poultry -- chicken or processed poultry
- Seafood – crab, crawfish, fish, shrimp, oyster
- Egg – dessert, appetizer or main dish
- Sugar – pie, cookies, cakes, candy
First, second and third place will be awarded in each category. The highest scoring dish score in each sub-category will be eligible to participate in the Regional Cookery Contest held in Ponchatoula, Louisiana in May 2016.
While the dishes are being judged, 4-H members will have the opportunity to participate in several hands-on mini sessions about preparing healthy snacks such as ice cream in a bag, turkey roll-ups and fruit kabobs.
The 4-H Cookery Contest is open to all St. Bernard Parish 4-H Club members.
