The 32nd Annual AG EXPO was held January 17 and 18, 2014, at the IKE Hamilton Expo Center in West Monroe, LA. The event was hosted by the North Louisiana Agri-Business Council; AG EXPO is unique in the Louisiana, south Arkansas, east Texas and Mississippi area. This premier event is attended annually by 10,000 to 12,000 people from the region.
Michael Arnold from Red River Parish 4-H participated in the Ag Expo this year placing first place with two bulls and first place with his heifer. He also received Reserve Champion Brangus bull and heifer. Michael is a junior at Riverdale Academy.
AG EXPO provides a means to educate the public on the many ways agriculture touches daily lives, from explaining the food chain to the multiple uses of agricultural products. The event introduces advances in technology and science being made for efficiencies in growing, harvesting and marketing all kinds of commodities. And, the agri-business community enjoys a unique opportunity to present products and services. The entire family enjoys the show.
AG EXPO is a combination of several events tied into one, which assures wide appeal. There is an educational Ag alley, including a mini farm that targets youth but is enjoyed by all ages; a junior livestock show, a miniature cow show, stock dog trials, a trade show, and an Agricultural Awards & Legislative Appreciation Luncheon which recognizes regional agricultural leaders and legislators.
