4-H University

Ouachita Parish 4-H members in grades 8th-12th have the opportunity each summer to compete for best in the state at 4-H University (4-H U) in more than 40 events ranging from plant identification, photography, and computer simulation to speech making and fashion design. Students also have the option to take part in the noncompetitive learning event called Clover College, which includes seven hours of instruction over three days during 4-H University.

4-H U is held on the LSU Campus in Baton Rouge in June of each year. During 4-H U, participants will be introduced to aspects of life that college students experience on an everyday basis. Students will also get to see how college students live during the week by residing in campus dormitories and eating at campus dining halls.

4-H U gives students the opportunity to meet 4-H members from throughout the state and compete for trips and prizes through a variety of project-area contests. For more information, contact the Ouachita Parish 4-H Agent at 318-323-2251.
