Orleans Parish 4-H is proud to announce it’s holding a parish wide Cookery Contest on Saturday, April 6th from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Rosa F. Keller Library and Community Center. The two commodities we will be having cooking contests for are sugar and egg. Sugar has four divisions: cakes, candy, cookies, and pies. Egg has three divisions: appetizer/salad, main dish, and dessert. Any 4-H club member, ages 9 to 19, can enter the contest with a recipe and half a prepared dish. Keep the other half of the dish to enjoy at home!
The dish will be scored on appearance (15 points), taste (65 points), food safety (10 points) and recipe (10 points). 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards will be given out for each of the categories. First place winners will then be eligible to compete in the Distrcit Cookery contest on Wednesday, May 8th.
Contestents may enter one dish per division, but will only be eligible to compete in the District Cookery in one division - that of their highest scoring dish.
Additional rules and regulations can be downloaded from this website.
