JUNIOR CLOTHING
Grades 4-5:
1. Open to any 4th – 5th grade 4-H member.
2. May enter one of these three categories: apron, skirt, shorts and pants.
Grades 6-8:
1. Open to any 6th – 8th grade 4-H member.
2. May enter one of these three categories:
Skirt and blouse – any type skirt – no sleeves or collar required on blouse.
School dress – may be a one piece dress or a jumper and blouse.
Sportswear- must make complete outfit. Examples include: pants (or shorts) and blouse; pants (or skirt) and blouse and/or jacket; pantsuit; or jumpsuit.

All contestants must complete a garment data sheet. This sheet will be worth 10 points of your total score. Please answer these questions as completely as possible. This sheet will help the judges to know more about your garment. Data sheets may be typed or handwritten and turned in with your garment.
To Qualify for “SEW WITH COTTON” Category:
“Just for Fun” Category
The “Just for Fun” Category will include any accessories you construct that match your outfit. These can include tote bags, oven mits, scrunchies, bows, purses, hats, etc. These items will be judged on construction but will not be added to your score. Items being entered in this category will need to be turned in with your garments on January 14, 2011.

Southside Elementary in Denham Springs, La.
Appearance judging will begin at 5:30 p.m. Family and friends are invited to attend the fashion show.
Garments should be modeled with appropriate accessories. Contestants will be judged for total appearance as well as construction.
Members may enter one garment in each category.
All garments must be on a hanger and labeled with name, age, grade, school and category. Contestants must complete a data sheet.
SENIOR CLOTHING
Categories & Regulations: (9th – 12th)
School or Casual Dress – This includes one or two piece dresses suitable for school, sports activities or casual wear.
Pants Outfit – Sportswear – Suitable for school, sports or casual wear. It includes pantsuits, jumpsuits, short sets, tennis outfits, western clothes, capri/cropped pants and swimwear (which must have a cover-up.)
Special Occasion Wear – Must be suitable for a dressy occasion (party, formal dances, tea, hostess for party, etc.)
Creative Choice – May be any type and for any occasion. Should be a selection that is especially suitable to the needs and personality of the 4-H’er and show more advanced construction techniques. Contestants should be encouraged to experiment with different or unusual fabrics and multiple construction skills.

Ready-to-Wear – Outfit suitable for any occasion selected for $100.00 or less. The outfit pieces may be all ready-to-wear or a combination of home sewn and ready-to-wear. Personal Data Form must be completed and turned in to 4-H Office by January 14, 2011. Garments should not be turned in at that time.

To Qualify for “Sew with Cotton” Category:
Garments must be in Categories A, B, C, or D.
Garments must be 100% cotton. Lining, interfacing, and trim, etc., may be any compatible fabric.
A statement signed by contestant indicating that fabric was purchased as 100% cotton will be on the Personal Data Form (see attached form). Please check all information on the bolt of fabric when you make your purchase. This form must be turned in with your garment on January 14, 2011.
“Just for Fun” Category
The “Just for Fun” Category will include any accessories you construct that match your outfit. These can include tote bags, oven mits, scrunchies, bows, purses, hats, etc. These items will be judged on construction but will not be added to your score. Items being entered in this category will need to be turned in with your garments on January 14, 2011.
