Members are limited to two demonstrations or one speech and one demonstration
Only 6th - 12th grade 4-H members will compete.
The demonstrations will be team demonstrations (two members per team).
4-H members must sign up through their local 4-H Leader to participate in this contest.
Winners will be announced at Achievement Day.
Divisions are as follows:
If a team overlaps two divisions, the team will be registered in the older division.
Example: A team made up of a fifth and sixth grader will be entered in Division II.
Please avoid this if possible.
THE FOLLOWING CONTESTS WILL BE HELD AT DEMONSTRATION DAY
1. AGRICULTURE DEMONSTRATION TEAM - Animal Science, Birds, Forestry, Fur, Wildlife, Livestock, Veterinary Science.
2. CONSERVATION DEMONSTRATION - Plant Science (Soil & Water), Wildlife Management.
3. ELECTRIC ENERGY MANAGEMENT/SMALL ENGINES - Electricity and Energy Conservation; Small Engines
4. ENTOMOLOGY DEMONSTRATION TEAM – Insects
5. GENERAL DEMONSTRATION TEAM - Bicycle, Citizenship, Dog, Pet Care, Photography, Safety, Woodworking, (not foods
6. GENERAL FOODS DEMONSTRATION - Foods-Nutrition, Food Preservation, Sportsman's Cookery
7. HOME ECONOMICS DEMONSTRATION TEAM - Clothing, Consumer Ed., Family Life, Good Grooming, Health, Home Environment, Management. (Not foods)

9. PUBLIC SPEAKING CONTEST
AGRICULTURE DEMONSTRATION TEAM
1. Any 4-H member except fourth or fifth grader.
2. Must have a team composed of two persons.
3. Areas in Livestock & Crop Production, Wildlife Management, Marine Science, Poultry Science, Forestry, Horticulture, Agriculture Engineering, etc... may be demonstrated.
CONSERVATION DEMONSTRATION
1. Any club member except 4th or 5th graders regardless of project enrolled in.
2. Must have a team composed of two persons.
3. Any topic relating to soil and water conservation or conservation of natural resources.
ELECTRIC ENERGY MANAGEMENT/SMALL ENGINES
1. Any 4-H member except fourth or fifth graders regardless of project enrolled in.
2. Must compete as individual.
3. Electric Energy -individual must present a demonstration, illustrated talk, or exhibit with oral report on electric energy management. Emphasis should be on the wise use of energy.
B . Small Engines -must be individual demonstration on any topic relating to small engines and its many uses.
NOTE: Engine cannot be started.
ENTOMOLOGY DEMONSTRATION TEAM
1. Any club member except fourth or fifth grader regardless of project enrolled in.
2. Must have a team composed of two persons.
3. Any topic relating to Entomology can be demonstrated. This would include insect control, rodent control, mite control, millipede control, insecticide mixing, pesticide safety, etc. The 4-H project books have ideas.
GENERAL DEMONSTRATION
1. Any 4-H member except fourth or fifth graders regardless of project enrolled in.
2. Present a demonstration on any project not covered under any other category at Demonstration Day. (Not food. See next category).
3. Must have a team composed of two persons.
GENERAL FOODS DEMONSTRATION
1. Any 4-H member except fourth or fifth grader regardless of project enrolled in.
2. Present a foods demonstration on any topic.
3. Must have a team composed of two persons.
HOME ECONOMICS DEMONSTRATION TEAM
1. Any 4-H member except fourth or fifth graders.
2. The demonstration must be given on any educational practice or information other than foods and cooking. Home Economics areas such as Clothing, Family life, Family Resource Management, Health and Safety, Housing & House Furnishings, Child Development, etc.... may be demonstrated.
3. Must have a team composed of two persons.
HORTICULTURE DEMONSTRATION
1. Any 4-H member except fourth or fifth graders may participate.
2. May be a team of two, or may be an individual demonstration.
3. Demonstrations must relate to one of the following topics.
A. General:
1. Artistic Arrangement - Demonstration of techniques and principles involved in the arrangement of flowers and/or other horticulture materials.
2. Marketing - Operations in preparing vegetables, fruit, flowers for market, offering for sale to a buyer, or for storage.
3. Production, Soil Fertility and Improvement - Any practice that has to do with growing vegetables, fruits, ornamentals or turf or having to do with maintaining, replenishing or increasing the productive capacity of the soil.
B. Use - Preparing vegetables or fruit for table use, cooked or raw or for canning, freezing, or dehydration.
PUBLIC SPEAKING
1. Any 4-H member can compete.
2. This is an individual contest.
3. Any topic you choose is allowed.
4. The speech must be original and composed by the 4-H member.
5. Time limit should be at least three minutes long and no more than 7 minutes.
