Elementary 4-H Demonstraton Day/Public Speaking Day

Elementary members are limited to one demonstration or one speech.
Only 4th grade and 5th grade 4-H members will compete.
The demonstrations will be team demonstrations (two members per team.)

  • 4-H members must sign up through their local 4-H Leader to participate in this contest.-4-H members bring all equipment needed. No stoves available.
  • 4-H members provide own transportation.
  • There will be no general assembly. When members arrive, go to room marked with demonstration name, register and get a number. Demonstrations will be given in numberical order.
  • Winners will be announced at Achievement Day
  • Elementary members may only enroll in the Elementary Demonstration Division.
  • Leaders, please give to the 4-H Office the form from the Leader Handbook with the names and categories of contestants from your club by February 11, 2011. We will accept changes until 4:00 p.m. on February 14, 2011. After February 14, 2011, we will not make changes except drops (scratches).
  • Team members must be from the same club.
  • Team demonstrations will be two people. Points will be subtracted from score if an individual demonstration is presented.
  • Ten minutes maximum time on all demonstrations.

THE FOLLOWING CONTESTS WILL BE HELD AT DEMONSTRATION DAY:

Elementary Demonstrations

1. Must be 4th or 5th grader.
2. Must be a team of two.
3. Divisions are: a. Animals; b. Plants; c. Foods; d. Agriculture and Natural Resources (not plants or animals); e. Home Economics (not foods).

Public Speaking

1. Any 4-H member can compete.
2. This is an individual contest.
3. Any topic you choose is allowed.
4. The speech must be original and composed by the 4-H member.
5. Time limit should be at least three minutes long and no more than seven minutes.
