The LaSalle 4-H Beef, Pecan, Rice, and Sweet Potato Cookery Contests will be held on December 8, 2014 in the Extension Meeting Room (23) at the LaSalle Parish Courthouse. Check-In 4:30 p.m. Judging will begin at 5:00 p.m. Pre-registration is requested by 12/4/14.
Dishes are prepared by 4-H’er at home the night before the cookery, chilled and transported to the contest on ice, in an ice chest. Exhibit only half of the dish along with recipe. It is suggested that dish be brought and displayed in a disposable container. Contestants will display their dishes on table to be judged, along with recipe. Do not put your name on recipe.
First, 2nd, and 3rd places will be given for each division and category. You may enter only one dish per division. First place winners will have the opportunity to compete in the regional cookery in Alexandria.
A dish must use at least one pound of ground beef.

All ground beef should be cooked until gray in color, not pink, and juices run clear.
Dish must contain at least 1 cup of pecans in recipe.

Wild rice is not cultivated rice in Louisiana and does not meet the requirement of 1 cup rice. Dishes containing rice products such as rice cereal, rice flour, etc. must also contain cooked rice. Note: traditional rice krispie treats do not meet the contest requirements.
Dish must contain at least one cup fresh, canned or frozen sweet potatoes in the recipe.
