Lafourche Cattlemen's Meeting
Annually, there are two Lafourche Cattlemen's meetings- May/June adn December. Each event is an opportunity for networking with other beef producers in the area, educational programs, door prizes, and supper. It is $20.00 annually to join the Lafourche Parish Cattlemen's Organization. Each meeting costs $15.00/person for the meal.
The next Lafourche Cattlemen's Meeting is scheduled for June 10 at the Lafourche Ag Building. Please, RSVP by June 1 for a meal count by calling (985) 446-1316 or emailing cbrady@agcenter.lsu.edu.
Lafourche Cattlemen's Queen Contest
The Lafourche Cattleman’s Queen contest application deadline is June 30th! Contact cbrady@agcenter.lsu.edu for an application. Please pass along to anyone youth 13-21 years old who may be interested!
Applicants will be contacted after the deadline to schedule interviews, etc. We will plan interviews for July or early August before school begins.
The Lafourche Queen will be expected to participate in the Louisiana Cattlemen’s Queen Contest in January. The Lafourche Queen will be introduced at the fall Lafourche Cattlemen’s Show the weekend of November 14-15. Please be sure you are avialbale for these very important events before applying.
Livestock Biosecurity Workshop
Livestock Biosecurity Farm Planning Workshop on May 20th at 6:00pm in the Raceland Ag Building. Dr. Christine Navarre, LSU AgCenter Extension Veterinarian, will be the presenter. The purpose of the workshop is for producers to have a farm plan set in place to help reduce the threat of disease and sickness in their herd. In addition, the workshop will help producers be prepared in the event of a New World Screw Worm or other outbreak. It will help producers to meet requirements that may be set in place for movement of cattle during these times.

Tri-Parish Livestock and Forage Field Day
The Lafourche, Assumption and Terrebonne parishes Livestock and Forage Field Day will be held on May 7, 2026 at 3:00pm. Dinner will be provided, so please be sure to RSVP for us to have a good head count!
