The Lafayette Parish, Acadiana District and LSU AgCenter State 4-H/FFA Horse Shows were held in New Iberia, Lafayette and Monroe, La., in June and July of each year. The horse program involves a dedication from the entire family to support the youth participant. Youth learn leadership, citizenship and life skills through participating in these events.
Members can participate in the Premier Exhibitor Program where they are tested on their true knowledge and skills of the horse program as well as knowledge of the industry. Programs are offered at the parish, district and state levels with various grade level eligibility.
Competition is strong in each of these events ranging from dressage to public speaking. Finalist from the LSU AgCenter State Horse Show have the opportunity to join other 4-H'ers from across the South to compete at the Southern Regional 4-H Championship Hors Show and Contest that rotates within the thirteen Southern States.
