Do you like baseball? Want to see the Zephyr’s? Well join us for 4-H Diamonds and Clovers Friday, May 13, 2011, at 7:00 p.m. The New Orleans Zephyrs will host the Salt Lake City Bees at Zephyr Field in Metairie, La. There are lots of opportunities for 4-H members to participate in such as the pre-game presentation, singing the National Anthem, being one of the Baseball Buddies, giving the first pitch, taking a photo with Boudreaux and Clotile or with a Zephyrs Player, being part of the High Five the Team and more. On Wednesday, April 20, 2011, you can help raise 4-H by stopping by any Raising Cane’s® restaurant in Louisiana. Raising Cane’s® will donate 15 percent of the cost of your order to your local 4-H Program. Customers must mention 4-H when placing order for 15 percent of the purchase to be donated.
The annual 4-H Day at the Capitol has been announced by the State 4-H Office. All 4-H members and volunteers are invited to travel to Baton Rouge, La. on Wednesday, June 1, 2011, to participate in this fun, educational event! Visit our historic state capitol building! See how our government works! Meet some of your Senators and Representatives who make up our Louisiana Legislature. The event is free, but you must register by Friday, April 29, 2011, to get a T-shirt. Call the 4-H office for more information.
This special camp will be held Monday, August 1 - Friday, August 5, 2011, at the Grant Walker Educational Center in Pollock, La. This camp is open to boys and girls completing 7th or 8th grade as of May 2011. Tracks will cover Robotics, Astronomy, GPS, Biology, ATV, Engineering, Mythbusters, Physics, Kitchen Chemistry, Recycling, Energy, Outdoor Skills, Videography, Forensic Science, and Super Human Senses. Participants will choose to participate in three of these tracks while at camp. Contact the 4-H office for more information.
4-H members are encouraged to create a poster telling about beef and/or beef products. The finished poster should be appropriate for use on a billboard. Posters should generate positive images of beef and beef products and not portray negative images of other food products (such as chicken, pork, etc). 4-H University will be held in Baton Rouge, La. on the Louisiana State University campus Tuesday, June 21 - Friday, June 24, 2011. This exciting and ever popular event is open to 4-H members age 13 and older (must have reached 13th birthday by January 1, 2011). Teens will get to experience a taste of college life as they stay in college dormitories and explore the beautiful LSU campus. They will join approximately 1,500 teens from across the state for this 4-day event. For more information, contact the 4-H office.
