Nine Jefferson Parish teens participated in Louisiana's annual 4-H University held in late June 2011 on the LSU campus in Baton Rouge, La. More than 1300 4-H members from across Louisiana spent several days in Baton Rouge participating in state level competition or receiving intensive training in selected subject areas, such as forensics, robotics and citizenship.
Jefferson Parish participants included: Brittany Landry, Salvador Caillouet, Tiffany Landry, Nicholas Victoriano, Matthew Victoriano from Fisher Middle/High School; Arrash Faili, Emzy Pomacino and Cecilia Borne from Word of Life Academy; and Brooke Harper from East Jefferson High School.
Brittany Landry was named Blue Ribbon Winner in the Ready to Wear Fashion Revue Contest. She also served on the State 4-H Fashion Board and was Co-Chairman of the Fashion Revue.
Arrash Faili and Cecilia Borne served as voting delegates from Jefferson Parish.
Accompanying the group were Ann Gauthier and Chantel Williams, LSU AgCenter Extension Agents.
4-H University is part of the LSU AgCenter’s 4-H Youth Development Program, designed to teach young people valuable life skills by involving them in educational projects and service activities. Throughout its history, the program has sought to help young people and their families improve their quality of life.
