Twenty-five Jefferson Parish 4-H members joined members from Orleans, St. Bernard, Plaquemines, Bossier, West Baton Rouge and St. Mary parishes for an exciting week of good times and good friends. The week-long camp was held at the Grant Walker Educational Center in Pollock, La. Campers enjoyed educational tracks which included Outdoor Adventures; Victory Garden; Food & Fitness; Dramatic Arts; Exploring Louisiana: Wetlands, Wildlife & You!; Get Ready, Get SET … Science, Engineering & Technology!; and Hunter Safety. There were also many recreational activities.
Jefferson East Bank participants included: D’Anthony Ash and Piper Pendergast from Audubon Elementary; Amber Drumm, Jannely Perez, and Eriyell White from Birney Elementary; Alyssa Weaver from Matas Elementary; Eric Dolly from Harahan Elementary; Angel Gross from Meisler Middle School; Matthew Guarisco and Payton Smith from Riverdale Middle School; Cameron Matherne from Schneckenburger Elementary; Austin Subervielle from St. Matthew the Apostle School; and Sundiata Dukes and Cy Salvant from the East Bank Home School 4-H Club.
West Bank campers were: Katie Maise from Word of Life Academy; Geralyn Ehrlich, Austin Carbo, Lloyd Gordon, Leah Kirby, Katlyn Scoggins, and Breanna Sconza from Kerner Elementary; Taylor Pratt and Brian Herron from Solis Elementary; Calissa Hollywood from Live Oak Elementary; and Mailbox Member Charrel Williams.
Members were accompanied by camp counselors Cecilia Borne, Arrash Faili and Ariel Maynard from Word of Life Academy and Laura Melancon from Fisher Middle/High School. Ann Gauthier and Chantel Williams, LSU AgCenter agents from Jefferson Parish and volunteer leaders Susan Warner and Derrick Salvant also accompanied the group.
